Travelers come from all over the world to visit the UK. With its vast array of historical buildings, greenest hills, and dramatic 600 miles of coastline, it’s little wonder it attracts so many visitors each year.
Cotswold’s
If you want to experience some good old fashioned quintessential England, then visit the beautiful rural area of the Cotswolds. With its picture postcard villages, its rolling hills, not to mention its delightful sandy colored cottages, then the Cotswolds is a must see destination. Perhaps you’ll visit the beautiful town of Burford with its charming high street and numerous art shops, its cafés and old pubs.
Or perhaps a stroll around the arboretum in Batsford appeals. If you visit in autumn, you will be amazed at the fiery colours and the fresh scent in the air as you walk in the midst of this little Eden. There are plenty of restaurants and traditional old English pubs in the nearby town of Morton in the Marsh.
Cornwall, Devon and Dorset
Head southwest all the way to Cornwall and enjoy the dramatic coastlines. Experience the magic of Tintagel, famous for its legends about King Arthur. Atop the cliffs, overlooking the surging Atlantic, are the remains of a once formidable fortress. Tintagel’s high street has plenty of restaurants to choose from and oldie worldie pubs serving fine ales.
Try the fishing village of Padstow with its nearby sandy beaches. Get wet with some water-sports or enjoy a walk along one of the many trails. Padstow is a great place for food fans too. It has restaurants run by celebrity chefs such as Rick Stein, which serve up delicious fresh locally produced food.
Further east of Cornwall are the coastal counties of Devon and Dorset. The coastline here, the Jurassic Coast, has the honor of being the first natural World Heritage Site. Perhaps you’ll see why if you explore this beautiful region.
London
Of course, many visitors to the UK head for London. Probably one of the most unique cities in all the world, the capital is a sightseer’s paradise. There’s William the Conqueror’s Tower of London, the magnificent and imposing Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, and plenty more. Reconnect with nature right in the heart of the city at Kew Gardens amidst its all-encompassing greenery.
Scotland
From England’s famous capital of Scotland’s, namely Edinburgh, with its charming streets of cobbled stone, its castle and alleyways, some say they prefer it to London. You decide.
While in Scotland, you must visit the Highlands. An inspiring and breathtaking landscape of unspoilt Scotland in all its ruggedness. You’ll be spell bound by delightful lochs and wildlife. The area is famous for its fresh seafood and meat from local farms. You may also like to throw a visit to one of the area’s malt whisky distilleries into the mix.
So come and enjoy the UK! Be sure to have a UK driving license to ensure that you’ll explore these destinations by car.
